RSS or Really Simple Syndication is an effective marketing tool that you should take advantage when marketing your product. You can use RSS to launch a product, to advertise an existing product, or just to give updates on your product. If you want to reach your target audience or the general public, then follow the next five steps for getting started with RSS:
1. You will need to find a feed to use, meaning, search different websites that allow RSS feeds. These different sites allow you to reach more people with your feeds.
2. You will need to set up your feeds, meaning, each with each site that you start an RSS with you will need to add your information or URL’s to the sites. This is the information that will link clients back to your site or give them information pertaining to your product. This includes adding the feed to your own server directory.
3. Consider setting up an announcement feed to let your clients and/or potential clients be updated on your products or know if there are specials for the product.
4. Consider signing up with what is known as an “excess voice feed” which may be done through companies like Yahoo, Google, or Bloglines.com. This is basically a tool or site that will allow you to monitor all of you RSS feeds without having to go to each website you have one at.
5. Use graphics or good content to display your feed on the site. This will attract the eye of the public, plus, you will want to add you feed to RSS search directories to get more exposure.
There are other steps, besides these five, that can help you get started with RSS, but, by following these steps you will be headed in the right direction to be successful with this marketing tool.
